Travel Information
Car HireAll the airports have car hire desks. Some (Carcassonne and Perpignan) are only served by Hertz, the rest have several of the larger companies represented. A medium size car will cost approximately £150 per week in the height of the season. If you do want to book ahead, it is worth doing it through an American website as the hire comanies (scandallously and inexplicably) discriminate in favour of Americans. Road RoutesThe main routes to The Languedoc by road are via Reims, Dijon, Lyon (A26, A31, A6, A7 A9) or Via Orleans, Bourges Clermont Ferrand and Millau(A71, A75) using the newly completed Millau viaduct (see below). It is normal to complete the journey taking an overnight stop either around the Dijon/Beaune area or Clermont Ferrant. The journey can be completed in one day but the total travel time from Calais is about 10 hours.
TrainsTGV: The network of fast trains (TGV) extends to Montpellier. The journey time from Paris to Montpellier is three hours. The Mediterranean is now four and a half hours from the North Sea. SNCF Eurostar
